In Memory of Nathan Petree

Dear Nathan,

We first saw each other when you were about the age Harrison is now. You were a well-behaved little boy who played quietly in our living room. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your life and for accepting me as your bonus grandma. I always enjoyed seeing your big smile and liked that you called me “Ama” just like Harrison and Bella. We had so much fun together on the way home from your school “Corner Stone”. You always told me about the classes you took, your extra curricular activities, and your school dances. I always envied what you did during the holidays: all the trips you took, going skiing, visiting beaches and eating good food. You were a wonderful role model for Harrison and Bella; you always took very good care of them and they enjoyed your company too. You grew up to become a polite, friendly young man.

We had many fond moments together, but here are some that I will always treasure.

Do you remember one week-end morning not too long ago when you were making pancakes with Mary Ann? You even offered me a taste of your masterpiece.

You came with your dad to cut the lock off our driveway gate before we came back from one of our trips.

You taught me how to play chess.

You helped Akong find his carry-on bag at the San Juan Airport.

You told me you want to drive your dad when you get your driver’s license so that he can relax and won’t receive any more tickets. You were always such a thoughtful, caring person.

Nathan, I will always treasure these memories. I am wishing that you are at peace now and I will miss you always.

Your AMA

Irma
