Nathan Petree was a tip-top friend. He was pleasurable, and watched out and protected his friends. Anytime with Nathan was the best time, he always got everyone laughing. He put others before himself. Nathan is truly a friend for the centuries.

133_nathan_petree_photosIt was a half-day on a humid December day 2012, 7th grade. Nathan, Austin, Maddie, Corry, Alex C., Kenzie, Laurie and Madison had decided to go to the mall to hangout. The day consisted of yoghurt, laughter, massage chairs, and shopping around in general. We wandered about until, Corry had decide to pop into a local show store. Austin and Nathan decided to put on high heels. When those two were together they did all types of shenanigans. Our group had gotten all types of weird looks from the other people in the store. We walked on until Maddie saw Santa Claus, and she persuaded us to have a group picture taken with him. The line went on for an eternity. We waited and waited until finally we were up. It took forever, but it was worth it.

It was a hot day in 2013, 7th grade. Nathan, Alex F., Madison, Maddie, and Kenzie took the bus home to Kenzie’s house. It was always a good time with this group, even the bus ride was the best of times. The best ride was thirty minutes of laughter and storytelling. The whole bus could hear us. When we arrived, we had frozen lemonade and cookies until someone shouted, “not it”. Suddenly a hide-and-go-seek game had broken out. Everyone rapidly scattered. Nathan was the first person to be found in the dog kennel. He was squeezed in there pretty tight. Laughter had broken out so everyone emerged. He had trouble getting out. The five of us finally calmed down and ventured into the garage. Each of us were armed with one confetti egg that we had found whilst playing hide-and-go-seek. Everyone grabbed a scooter or skateboard. The four of us got the really speedy scooters/skateboards, whereas Nathan got the minuscule Barbie scooter that went at a leisurely pace. After that we were off into the street trying to egg each other. Alex had gained speed on Nathan, and they ditched their scooters and started running after each other. Alex eventually jumped Nathan and spread the confetti and eggshell bits all over him. The worst thing about confetti eggs is that they stick to you. We finally headed in, still draped with the remnants of our confetti war. We then plated board games that were made for five year-olds. We played Lizzie McGuire, Cheeta Girls, and Barbie. We couldn’t exactly seem to figure out the games though, due to the missing instructions. It was a blast.

Anytime with Nathan was a goo time. He was easygoing, and he always made everyone feel included in our conversations. All times were memorable and enjoyable with him around. From swings at Dewberry Frams to scooters to Santa Claus to sitting with him in class, he was always a blast. It is these qualities and more that made him a friend for the centuries.
